Persian Tales (Web source)
Translated from the Kermani and Bakhtiari dialects of the Persian language by David and Emily Lorimer.
The stories in this unit are a collection of fairy tales and legends including many animal stories and magical adventures.
Reading note: the word ash is a thick Persian soup in these stories.
The Wolf and the Goat
Mother Goat:
Black hand (wolf) = don't open the door, but red hand (Mother) = open door
The wolf listened and died his hand a red with henna. He carried three children away while one (Black Eyes) ran and hid. Together, the mother and Black Eyes looked into the Wolf's house, who was making ash (the thick Persian soup).
The fight:
-goat: sharpened her horns and got a skin full of butter and curds to give as a gift to the knife-sharpener
-wolf: sharpened his teeth and got a skin full of air to give to the dentist as a gift
When the dentist saw the bag of air instead of a nice gift, he pulled the wolf's teeth out and put in little pieces of cotton-wool that were pointed twists that only looked like sharp, white teeth.
1. The goat and the wolf went to get a drink from a stream of water. The goat made sure not to drink anything while the wolf drank as much as he could.
2. When they went to jump across the stream and the goat leaped over, but the wolf fell in because he was so swollen up from the water he drank
3. The goat then "smote" the wolf in his stomach with her sharp horns, tearing it open.
4. The wolf died.
(Ended with "the sparrow never got home"?)

A girl on the way to the bazar (bazar is referenced in the new Jumanji movie with The Rock, Kevin Hart, Jack Black. Movie Script for storytelling based off the Jumanji movie?)
jinnu is a coin of little value with which the girl buy a minaret made out of a needle
-always opens with "once upon a time there was a time when there was no one but God" (open story with this and then go into movie script?)
-Setting: town is Hich a Hich, which is in the city of Nothing-in-the-World.
-The girl went to the bazar to see if the drug-seller would give her some cooling ointment in exchange of two eggs which were given to her by her aunt (because the aunt did not have ointment for the girl's scratches from falling down a few days earlier).
-She had lost the two eggs on the way to the bazar and when she put her hand in her pocket, she found a jinnu instead. She wanted the eggs back so she gave the jinnu to some people in the bazar who made her a minaret out of a needle

-when she climbed to the top of the minaret, she saw that one of her eggs turned into a hen, located in an old woman's house while the other turned into a cock, who was "threshing" corn in a far away village.
-She went to retrieve the cock first. Her and the peasants bargained a deal: the girl was to get half of their crop (rice). She killed and skinned a flea to make a loading bag for the 25 manns of rice, put it on the cock's back, and together, they started back to the market. Two days' journey out from the market, the cock was tired and had a sore back. She half-burnt a walnut and rubbed it on the cock's back, but when she woke in the morning, a large walnut tree had shot up and grew from the cock's back. The story gets really weird from here on. Also ends with "and the sparrow never got home"
-Story ideas: movie script based on Jumani. Setting can also be based on the bazaar (correct spelling from Jumanji). The point would be that they keep finding themselves in new places stemming from the original, just like in this story.
